As the country suffered through the Great Depression, a tiny star began to shine. Her name was Shirley Temple, born April 23, 1928 and she is still living today. She danced and sang for the world to hear. She had many movies and a television show. She started her career at 3 years old and left the actress business at the age of 22. Her first acting reel was in Bright Eyes in 1934. Her mom, Gertrude Temple, was a huge help during Shirley's piece of fame, as was her father too. People loved to go see her live as a way to ease the pain of the depression and forget about reality for just a couple of hours. People enjoyed seeing her cheery personality, her tight curls and sweet-looking face on the television set. She brought a smile to the depressed countries faces and lifted their spirits during the hard times.
I chose to write about this interesting girl because I've watched some of her shows and was astonished on how talented Shirley was. This topic is interesting to me because I love music as a whole and I find musical careers interesting to learn and research about. This topic relates to the Great Depression because people went to see movies and a hit was the Shirley Temple movies, which let people forget about reality for just a litle while. My topic affected some American because it entertained the people and brought happiness in the air during this dreary time.
